Designation: Dustmite
Class: Dangerous
Dustmite is a large dog-like entity, known to roam the deserts of Montana, whose ever-shedding mane resembles a powder or dust hence it's designation. It's face contains 2 sets of pupil-less eyes, two front-facing and two side-facing, which gives the entity an almost 360-degree vision which has made is hard for AERPA researchers to study the entity even from a far. Though upon a successful attempt at darting the entity for study, it was discovered that Dustmite's eyes produce the same enzyme as bullfrogs, allowing the entity to see infrared light. DNA testing also determined that Dustmite is related to neither dog nor wolf, but is rather an entirely new canine all together, and appears to be the only one of it's kind. They entity was outfitted with a radio collar to track their movements, territory, and possible den site.
Dustmite has been observed leading a pack of around 11 wolfdogs that escaped from an illegal breeding facility; Helping them survive within the harsh semi-arid landscape. The pack itself has been observed to have friendly encounters with domestic pets and they seem to avoid humans and human settlements at all costs. However, Dustmite has been reported to have taken in and fed lost and abandoned pets until rescuers have shown up to collect them, which has shown no know aggression from the entity thus far. A few aggressive encounters of the entity towards "independent researchers" have been documented, which has caused AERPA to successfully lobby for a protection order out for Dustmite and their pack, making interacting with them punishable by law. Recently, Dustmite and their pack have been tracked moving towards Glacier National Park, though the reason for this is unknown.
